Greeting

The teacher greets students; students respond to greeting and take their places. Hello, boys and girls! How are you? • Books closed. T writes the following two sentences on the board:Millions of tourists visit the Eiffel Tower every year. The EiffelTower is visited by millions of tourists every year. • Asks: What is the difference between the sentences? Elicits or introduces the idea that the first sentence is an active voicesentence and the second is passive. 1 • T asks students to open their books at page 35. • Tells students that the gapped sentences are from thelistening on page 34. • Puts students into pairs to complete the sentences. • Checks answers. • For further information and additional exercises, students can turn to page 116 of the Grammar reference section.
