The lesson greeting.

(Start)

• Teacher organizes a warm-up activity for a start of the lesson. Learners look at the names of different activities hung on the classroom walls. They choose the activity they like and go to that place. In small groups they try to give arguments and explain why the activity they have chosen is the best. • Learners are informed about the lesson objectives.&nbsp;&nbsp; Slide (objectives) Slide (useful phrases) Whiteboard Sheets with the names of activities&nbsp;&nbsp;

The main part of the lesson

Pre - listening stage. Before listening to the text Sts look at 3 photos and in groups speak about activities using active vocabulary: to be into, to be fond of, to be keen on, to take part in, club, competition, etc. E.g. I think, three girls are fond of football. Listen and fill in a table: Jon Lucy Tim Activity tennis, photography basketball basketball Country Australia Words Phrases is mad about basketball is worse than About what activity wasn't spoken in the dialogue? Each St. prepares a short information about his or her interests or hobbies, pretending a guest from another country. Ex.4 p.31, then make a short dialogue in pairs using their ideas and a chart in Ex.5. p.31. ME and MY INTERESTS/ HOBBY ( a project). Writing an email to a friend. In a weaker class, remind Sts. of what they know about Jon from the listening task and write notes on the blackboard. In a stronger class, Sts. will write about a new person. Ex.6.p.31. Hi....., I've got a new friend. Her/ His name is..... She/ He is from..... Home task. Think of an alternative ending of the emails. Students express their attitude to the lesson and give self-assessment using the method: “Six thinking hats”: • Green: How can you use today's learning in different subjects? • Red: How do you feel about your work today? • White: What have you leant today? • Black: What were the weaknesses of your work? • Blue: How much progress have you made in this lesson?
